How this started (and why it is still going)
Ruth Padgett left a comfortable operations director role in spring 2019 because she kept noticing the same pattern: smart people in good organisations making slow, painful decisions because nobody had created the conditions for clear thinking. She was not sure she could fix that from inside. So she left, told herself she would try it for a year, and here we are seven years later. The first client was a small housing charity in the Midlands that needed help restructuring its board reporting. Ruth spent six weeks with them, rewrote three processes, and learned that the most useful thing she could do was ask the question everyone else had decided was too obvious to ask.
Steady work. Honest advice. No theatre
Ruth Padgett spent eleven years inside mid-size organisations, mostly in operations and change management, before she got tired of writing decks nobody read. She left her last in-house role in early 2019 and started Silent Anchor Hub from a spare bedroom with one client, a broken office chair, and a lot of strong tea. She has since worked with founders, non-profits, and small leadership teams who needed someone to think clearly alongside them without adding noise. She reads obsessively about decision-making and keeps a paper notebook for every engagement, which she admits is slightly old-fashioned and entirely non-negotiable.
